Getting around Hampi

There are two sides to Hampi, ‘Hampi Island’ and ‘Hampi Bazaar’. On the Hampi Bazaar side there was a tourist motorbike ban in 2014 as they were not classed as tourist vehicle’s, there is still a chance to rent motorbikes but there is only around 10 available.

You can easily get around the attractions on this side by tuk tuk, bicycle or walking.

Hampi Island side there are many motorbikes available to rent, you can get over to the other side via boat across the river as the drive around takes about one hour!

The boat takes 5 mins to cross, but won’t leave until it’s full. It costs around 50rs one way. The last boat back to Hampi Bazaar leaves at 5.30pm, so don’t be late or you’ll have to pay for a tuk tuk to go back and it takes about an hour to drive back.
